Beluga Whales, like their dolphin cousins are highly intelligent and social creatures. Noted for their very unique calls, they are also referred to as "The Canary of The Sea". They inhabit the frigid coastal waters fo the Arctic Ocean, sometimes venturing south as far as the North and Baltic seas. There is also a population that lives solely in the St. Lawrence River waterway. Beluga Whales in all of their current environments are threatened with a number of problems specific to the areas where they are located.
